About
Y. Parris
In my late teens, influenced by 90's fashion magazines, my intent was to pursue Fashion. To prepare for Japan's demanding college entrance exams, I enrolled in art school, where I learned the fundamentals of drawing, painting, and sculpting. It was a mentally grueling experience, pushing me to my limits as I grappled with the intense demands in the competitive environment. I struggled with painting and never enjoyed it, although the lessons were invaluable.
Fast forward, I had my career as an Art Director, which spanned decades. After retiring, I rediscovered painting and have been deeply engaged in it ever since. Perhaps because it's not by necessity. To this day, each piece is a challenge, and while the process is difficult, it's precisely this struggle that makes it so fulfilling.
